2015 WSU Mock Newbery

The 1st WSU Mock Newbery was held on January 17, 2015, at the Charles & Renate Frydman Educational Resource Center at Wright State University. Seventeen people -- a mix of school librarians, classroom teachers, public library children's librarians, retired children's librarians, and juvenile detention center workers -- spent hours discussing ten children's books, using CCBC Book Discussion Guidelines. Each book was vetted and met the criteria for consideration for the Newbery Medal. Note: The list was generated in September and did not include any titles published after September 2014.

Titles discussed:
Alexander, Kwame. The Crossover. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.
Auxier, Jonathan. The Night Gardener. Amulet Books/Abrams.
Engle, Margarita. Silver People: Voices from the Panama Canal. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.
