2014 Picture Book Extravaganza!

Approximately 50 WSU students, school teachers, school librarians, and children's librarians from public libraries met on Saturday, February 22nd, in the Group Study Room at WSU's Dunbar Library for the 6th Annual Picture Book Extravaganza! The event was co-sponsored by Greene County Public Library, WSU University Libraries, and the Charles & Renate Frydman Educational Resource Center. Our thanks go to the Wright State University Bookstore, who sold books for us.

The favorite picture book selected by the group was The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt, illustrated by Oliver Jeffers, and published by Philomel.

Breakout Session: Hands on Art! II

WSU Art Education alumna Kasee Merritt lead the optional breakout session this year. She introduced the group to 3 mediums found in this year's picture books: watercolor, pastels, and cut paper collage. Each participant was able to play with the medium, trying to copy a painting from the past.
